There's a built-in tension in this placement, and it's worth naming plainly: Pluto is in detriment in Taurus, the transformer stuck in the one sign that exists to keep, preserve, and hold still. Pluto wants to strip things to the studs and rebuild; Taurus wants nothing torn down at all. A whole generation carried that friction — the cohort born in the later nineteenth century, whose lifetime saw wealth, land, and material security transformed by forces they could neither stop nor fully control.

Transformation through money and the ground

Because Pluto works against its grain here, the transformation came slowly and expensively, through money and the ground itself.
