What StarBind is
- The app: your full birth chart with exact degrees, aspects and houses, daily horoscopes read from your whole chart rather than your Sun sign alone, and compatibility with the people you save.
- Personal reports: long-form readings calculated from your exact birth details and written for you alone, laid out as a PDF you keep.
- Free calculators: birth chart, rising sign, Moon sign, Big Three and today's Moon phase. The calculators run in your browser, and nothing you enter leaves the page.
- The ChatGPT and Claude connector: horoscopes, your Big Three and your natal chart inside your AI assistant. No account, nothing stored.
The site also hosts a free astrology reference, Learn, and Sky News, which covers retrogrades, eclipses, New and Full Moons, and season changes.
How charts and sky facts are calculated
The app calculates every chart on StarBind's own servers from the same JPL planetary data NASA uses. Positions are accurate to fractions of an arcsecond. Charts are not looked up from a third-party service.
Astronomical facts are kept separate from interpretation. Sky News gives the exact degree and the exact time in UTC for every event, and marks the interpretation as such.
Astrology has more than one tradition, and the app names the one it uses. You can read your chart as Modern Western Psychological, Vedic Classical or Hellenistic Classical. Houses default to Placidus, with Whole Sign, Koch and Porphyry one tap away. Western readings use the tropical zodiac, and Vedic uses the sidereal zodiac. In Expert Settings you can set the zodiac, houses, orbs and dignities yourself.
Without a birth time, the rising sign and houses are left out, not guessed. The free calculators on this site run in your browser on the VSOP87 planetary theory, accurate to about an arcminute (a sixtieth of a degree).
How readings are written
Horoscopes, readings in the app and the text of every report are written by AI: large language models working from your calculated chart. The interpretation frameworks behind them are developed and routinely reviewed with practicing astrologers.
Individual readings are not reviewed by an astrologer before you get them, and they can contain mistakes. Reports also pass an automated quality check before delivery.
