Set opposite each other on the wheel, Virgo and Pisces are two halves of one instinct that got split in the middle. Virgo discerns, separates, and fixes; Pisces dissolves, merges, and forgives. The opposition makes them magnetic — each holds precisely what the other went short on — and it makes them prone to the seesaw, where one keeps overcorrecting for the other until they're both stuck playing a role they didn't choose. What Virgo can't feel it may criticise in Pisces; what Pisces can't organise it may quietly resent in Virgo.

Someone has to become the fixed point on purpose.

As friends they balance each other tenderly — Virgo helps Pisces cope with the concrete world, Pisces helps Virgo lighten up and feel. As partners the attraction is strong but the maintenance is real, because Virgo's bluntness can bruise a Pisces heart and Pisces's vagueness can exasperate a Virgo mind.
